Incumbent Steve Nielsen is seeking to be returned to his supervisor’s position on the Stanton Town Board in the upcoming April 6 spring election.
Joining Nielsen on the ballot is fellow incumbent Karl Hackbarth and challenger Joshua Edhlund.
Nielsen, age 62, is a retired farmer and public works director.
Nielsen and his wife Betty have two grown sons – Tim and Mike.
Steve is a 1976 graduate of Boyceville High School.
Below are Nielsen’s answers to a questionnaire sent out by the Tribune Press Reporter. Candidates were asked to try and limit each of their responses to 100 words or less.
What experience do you have as an elected official or what experience do you have in leadership positions?
Stanton Town Board Supervisor – Multiple Terms
Why did you decide to run for the town board?
I was approached by Community Members and I would like to continue serving my township.
What about your background or education or values or personality makes you particularly suited to serve or continue serving on the town board?
I’ve lived in Stanton my entire life and served on the board for multiple terms.
What do you believe to be the biggest challenges or issues facing your township?
Using township funding wisely while continuing to improve our roads.
What do you hope to accomplish by serving on your town board?
Continue to make Stanton a good township to live in for all of the community.
