He is employed as a plant engineering lead person at 3M in Menomonie and holds vocational degrees in diesel mechanics and auto body.
Below are Hackbarth’s answers to a questionnaire sent out by the Tribune Press Reporter. Candidates were asked to try and limit each of their responses to 100 words or less.
What experience do you have as an elected official or what experience do you have in leadership positions?
I was a member of the township Planning committee for one year prior to being elected as a town supervisor. I’ve been a maintenance lead person for 3M since 2004.
Why did you decide to run for the town board?
I felt it was my civil duty to take an active role in making sure our townships residents continue to have the environment that attracted them to reside here in the first place
What about your background or education or values or personality makes you particularly suited to serve or continue serving on the town board?
I grew up in rural northern Wisconsin. I’ve lived in Stanton township since 1988. I have no hidden agendas; I just want to look out for the resident’s best interests while maintaining the area to reflect what drew me here to begin with.
What do you believe to be the biggest challenges or issues facing your township?
The increasing costs of running the township. Road maintenance at just over $110,000 a mile to blacktop a road, shared burdens for facilities to provide fire and ambulance, equipment renewal, voting machines etc. that lead to raising mill rates which shows on our Property tax rolls.
What do you hope to accomplish by serving on your town board?
To review and keep an open mind to new activities in our township, share and receive feedback from affected residents and to uphold the township in a manner that attracted all of us to make this our home.
