ELK MOUND — After Friday’s (Jan. 15th) game against Elmwood/Plum City was postponed, the Boyceville girls’ basketball team was left with just one game this past week. On Tuesday, January 12th they traveled to Elk Mound where they were beaten, 31-55, by the Mounders.
The Lady Bulldogs, who have yet to win a conference game, were well handled by the Mounders, who are currently 5-2 in conference play and sit in the number three spot along with Mondovi.
The Lady Dawgs got off to a very slow start only scoring two points in the first half of the first half.
According to head coach Jay Lagerstrom, after that they played a pretty competitive game. Unfortunately, by then the Lady Dawgs were down by fifteen points and couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole they had dug. The Dawgs finished the first half with 14 points compared to the Mounders 31.
Lagerstrom thought that they played pretty good defense against the Mounders and rebounded well. Kady Grambow grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lady Dawgs and Faith Harnish added six more.
The second half looked a bit better as the Bulldogs scored 17 points to the Mounders 24.
Lagerstrom conceded, “We have to come out ready to play from the start.”
Harper Olson, Grambow and Mya Lagerstrom all had seven points for the Bulldogs. The Mounders were led by Madison Mohr with 14 points with three from beyond the arc.
The Lady Dawgs played in Colfax on Monday, January 18th, hosted Baldwin-Woodville on the 19th, and will play at Glenwood City on Thursday the 21st. Mondovi will then come to Boyceville next Tuesday, January 26th.
