One dead in Town of Colfax rollover

TOWN OF COLFAX — A Colfax man is dead following a single-vehicle rollover this past Saturday evening in the Town of Colfax.

Frank Newton, 87 of rural Colfax, died when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve along County Highway M and rolled several times.

Around 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th, 2020, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office along with Colfax Ambulance and Colfax Fire Department were dispatched to a one-vehicle roll-over with unknown injuries, in the 7700 block of County Highway M in the Town of Colfax.

The initial crash investigation shows that a Subaru SUV driven by Newton was northbound on County Highway M when he lost control while negotiating a curve, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times.

Newton was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Colfax Ambulance, Colfax Fire and Life Link helicopter personnel attempted life saving measures but were unable to revive Newton.

The Dunn County Medical Examiners Office responded to the scene and pronounced Newton deceased.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office and the Dunn County Medical Examiners Office.
