The Dunn-St. Croix conference has announced the selection of scholar athletes for each of the conference’s schools.
Colfax’s Trey Hovde and Kameri Meredith and Cade Hanson and Hailey Blaskowski both of Elk Mound were named to the list for 2019-20 sports seasons.
“Congratulations on your hard work in the classroom and in athletics, you are true representatives of scholar athletes,” Colfax’s athletic director, Michael Hodel, said of Hovde and Meredith.
This is the fifth year the Dunn-St. Croix has presented the scholar athlete awards where a male and female athlete from each conference school is chosen to be a recipient of the award.
“We are very proud of both Hailey and Cade in what they have achieved academically and athletically while at Elk Mound High School,” said Elk Mound athletic director, Mike Schiszik. “Both are tremendous leaders and great role models to other students. Congratulations to both and best of luck in the future.”
The athletes are chosen based on similar criteria used by the WIAA for selecting its annual scholar athletes throughout the state – grade point average, varsity letters earned, all conference awards, conference championships, and team and individual WIAA tournament success.
During their four years of high school in Colfax, Hovde took part in football, track and field, and cross country while Meredith competed in softball, track and field, volleyball, and basketball.
Hanson participated in cross country, basketball, and track and field, while Blaskowski was a part of the volleyball, basketball, and softball squads at Elk Mound High School.
