THE CURRENT COVID-19 crisis is like nothing we have seen in our lifetime. The Glen Hills Lions Club is working to help needy families and a struggling dairy industry at the same time. The Club donated $250 to purchase 50 – $5 Nilssen’s Foods gift cards. WestCAP’s Food Pantry will distribute the cards to needy families to be used for dairy product purchases. This is the Lions Club’s way of not only helping needy families, but also helping a struggling dairy industry at a time when farmers are being asked to dump milk. Lion’s Club vice president, Randy Hansen, applied for and received a Thrivent Action Team Project and thus donated an additional $250 toward this project. We expect this crisis will last for quite some time and it is the hope of the Lions Club that others will want to help keep this program going into the future. Anyone wanting to support needy families and the dairy industry can leave donations at Nilssen’s Foods in Glenwood City. Checks should be made payable to WestCAP Food Pantry and they will make sure it gets applied accordingly.
