Spring primary elections see Zunker, Tiffany, Kelly, and Karofsky to appear on upcoming ballots

ST. CROIX COUNTY — The unofficial results are in for the spring 2020 primary elections and Tricia Zunker, Tom Tiffany, Daniel Kelly, and Jill Karofsky will have their names added to the general and special election ballots this spring.
Zunker and Tiffany are running for the open seat in U.S. Congressional District 7 after it was vacated by Congressman Sean Duffy in September of 2019 to help his wife with the birth of their child. The special election will be held on May 12.
All together, Zunker received 33,744 votes (88.8 percent), and her Democratic challenger, Lawrence Dale, received 4,252 votes (11.2 precent).
Tiffany received 40,794 in District 7 (57.1 percent), and his Republican challenger, Jason Church, received 30,620 votes (42.9 percent).
In St. Croix County Zunker took 89.68 percent or 3,101 of the votes for the democratic representative, which was out of 3,458 total votes cast.
Tiffany led the republicans with 51.99 percent or 3,112 votes in St. Croix County, which was out of 5,986 votes.
In the Town of Glenwood City, Zunker had eight votes while Tiffany had 50, and for the City of Glenwood City wards 1 and 2 Zunker had 86.36 percent of the votes and Tiffany had 62.07 percent.
Zunker is president of the Wausau School Board, and State Senator Tiffany, of Hazelhurst, represents Senate District 12.
The race for Supreme Court Justice was the only statewide race, seeing 50 precent or 352,855 of the votes going to Daniel Kelly and 37 percent or 261,721 went to Jill Karofsky out of the 3,578 precincts in Wisconsin.
The third Supreme Court candidate, Ed Fallone, finished with 13 percent of the vote.
In St. Croix County Kelly jumped ahead of Karofsky 4,917 votes to 2,565 votes, as well as having 90 percent of the votes in the Town of Glenwood City to Karofsky’s 7.14 percent.
In the City of Glenwood City wards 1 and 2 Kelly edged out Karofsky with 66.34 percent of the votes while Karofsky had 24.75 percent.
Kelly is the incumbent Supreme Court Justice, and Karofsky is a Dane County Circuit Court Judge. Justices serve a 10-year term on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
The general election in which the Karofsky and Kelly will appear on for the supreme court justice seat will take place on Tuesday, April 7.
