News for the week of February 16th to the 22nd:
Our week started off with the Patchy Partners sewing group hard at work on a new project benefitting Benjamin’s House shelter in Rice Lake: buddy blankets, complete with a stuffed toy friend attached to the blanket. Afterward, we readied the Square for our monthly Green Leaf Café. Residents enjoyed visiting while Tanya, Tina, and Michelle played waitress, taking orders and delivering drinks. Chef Andy was busy in the kitchen, cooking up everyone’s pub favorites, such as patty melts, deep fried cheese curds, and fish fry platters. I think it’s safe to say that this is a favorite meal each month! After lunch, Loretta led the Catholics in rosary on Willow Lane. Next up, residents gathered to try their hand at “Table Golf” … a card game that combines luck of the draw and strategy to work towards the lowest “score” in your hand by the end of the round, much like the outdoor version of the game. Always fun to try a new game.
Cribbage was the name of the game on Tuesday morning as Al, Toby, Vern, Tom and Gus played on East. Later in the morning, residents met in the Square for some morning Chair Stretches. We always feel rejuvenated & ready for the day afterwards. After lunch, the Catholics met for Prayer Time in Willow Lounge. The afternoon found our Bingo Enthusiasts in the Square for Prize Bingo. All went away with bags full of treats. Barb B, as well as our loyal volunteers Michelle, Patty and Linnea always make sure this fun hour runs smoothly.
On Wednesday morning, residents gathered for Church Service with communion led by Mary Eide from Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Elk Mound. We appreciate her taking the time to come and share with us. Rich Schroeder was our afternoon entertainment. He always draws a crowd as his beautiful voice and talented guitar playing echoes through the halls.
Thursday morning found residents gathered in the Square to try their hand at crafting snowflake cutouts. In the afternoon, the dedicated Farkle group gathered in the Square to sling some dice. After Farkle, residents on East were treated to fresh manicures and new nail polish for all. After supper, residents gathered in the Rotunda for Bounce Ball & Fellowship in the Rotunda with Jordan. We sure appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule to come and meet with us.
Friday morning residents met in the Square for Gospel Sing a Long. Residents enjoyed singing along to the talents of Kathy Tape on piano and Bruce Schroeder on the guitar. We capped off the week with Dime Bingo in the Square in the afternoon. Many came away with jingling pockets and smiles on their faces!
On Saturday, residents enjoyed visiting with snacks after lunch on East. Later in the afternoon, residents met up to play a rousing round of Farkle in the Birch dining area. We appreciate Lila Whitted coming out to join us and play scorekeeper for the game.

Hard to believe that March is almost here … any bets on whether it will “come in like a lion or a lamb”?
