POLK COUNTY — The Tribune Press Reporter received an update on the accident that took place on County Road P on Saturday, February 8.
According to Debbie Benjamin of the Wisconsin State Troopers, Harland Becker, 84, of Turtle Lake was headed north on Cty. Road P when he noticed a manure spreader on the east side of the road and he began to drift into the south bound lane.
Taylor Obitz, 25, of Glenwood City was traveling north and had just crested the hill when she noticed Becker’s vehicle was in her lane.
In an attempt to avoid a collision, Obitz merged into the south bound lane just as Becker had noticed he had drifted out of his lane and moved back into the south bound lane.
The result ended in a head on collision between the two vehicles with Becker’s car coming to a rest in the west ditch facing north, and Obitz’s vehicle came to rest in the east ditch facing west.
Also in the vehicle with Obitz was Brittany Obitz, 26, Nancy Obitz, 56, and John Obitz, 57.
