News for the week of February 9th to the 15th:
First thing Monday morning, residents gathered in the Square to try their hand at painting fireworks using cut toilet paper tubes and other implements. We are always pleasantly surprised at our artistic abilities! After lunch, the Catholics gathered on East for our weekly rosary group led by Loretta. Next up was Baking Club in the Square where we made delicious swirled cheesecake bars.
Tuesday morning found Al, Toby, Vern, Tom and Gus gathered for their weekly game of cribbage on Sandy Ridge. Later in the morning, residents gathered in the Square to make homemade bubble blowers. So much fun to watch the bubbles drift through the air. All agreed we couldn’t wait to try them out in the courtyard when the weather is warm again. Tuesday afternoon means Prize Bingo in the Square! Volunteers Michelle, Linnea, & Patty were on hand to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Residents left with sacks full of goodies and smiles on their faces.
On Wednesday morning, Craig Conklin led our weekly worship service in the Square. We sure appreciate him coming to share an inspiring message. Kathy Johns led us in a Sweetheart Sing-Along in the afternoon. She played all the good old love songs, including “Always” by Irving Berlin. Love was in the air by the time the hour was up!
On Thursday morning, residents gathered in the Square for some morning chair stretches. With good music playing, it sure is a refreshing way to start the day. In the afternoon, volunteers from the Colfax Village office came to conduct absentee voting for the Spring Primaries. Several residents commented how nice it was to be able to remain civically active without having to venture in the cold winter weather. Afterward, the Farkle group gathered to play a few rousing rounds of our favorite dice game! After supper, residents gathered in the Rotunda for Bounce Ball & Fellowship in the Rotunda with Jordan. We certainly appreciate Jordan coming to share with us each week.
Friday morning, we gathered in the Square for Gospel Sing a Long. Bruce Schroeder played all of the best hymns on guitar, with Paula Tribolini accompanying on piano. Around lunchtime, Cupid’s assistants delivered chocolates and delivered sweet Valentines from the Colfax Comets 4-H and Colfax Lutheran Sunday School groups. We were sure feeling the love! In the afternoon, residents gathered for Dime Bingo in the Square, and enjoyed festive heart-shaped cookies afterward. What a fun week!
