LADYSMITH — The Bloomer/Colfax wrestling team scored its first Heart O’ North dual victory last week with a 51-27 road win over the Ladysmith Lumberjacks last Thursday evening, January 16.
“Unfortunately, it was bit of a forfeit fest as Ladysmith is dealing with the flu and were missing three or four kids,” said Raptor assistant coach Adam Davison.
Brison Tuschl was one of five wrestlers that had a match, but Tuschl was pinned by Coltin Fenstermacher in 1:24 in the 106-lb. weight class.
Taking a win for the Raptors was Luke Blanchard via pin fall over the Lumberjacks Marc Zeches at 1:45 of the 113-lb. weight class.
“We only wrestled five varsity matches and lost three of them,” Davison said. “Alex Poirier won a close 4-2 match in his 120 pound season debut.”
Out of the 14 matches, Bloomer/Colfax received seven forfeits from Ladysmith which came in the 152, 160, 182, 195, 220, 132, and 145-pound weight classes.
Bloomer/Colfax was scheduled to return to Ladysmith on Saturday, January 18 for an invitational but a winter storm canceled the meet. The Raptors wrestled in Boyceville Tuesday and will welcome Chetek-Weyerhaeuser/Prairie Farm to Colfax tomorrow night, Thursday, January 23. This is the Raptors only match in Colfax this season.
