COLFAX — With the postponement of Friday’s game due to the snow storm, the Lady Bulldog Basketball team had only one game this past week. One that they probably wished they didn’t have or perhaps could have taken back.
On Tuesday, January 14th, Boyceville traveled to Colfax to take on the 10-2 Vikings where they lost 20-59.
Not only did the Lady Dawgs lose but their play was less than stellar for the game against the Vikings.
Head coach Jolene Bird puts it very bluntly when she stated the stats from the game: “7% from the arc, 14% field goals, 9/21 at the free throw line, and 24 turnovers (16) unforced. Needless to say, with those percentages, the chance to stay in the game are pretty slim.”
Boyceville was outscored 34-8 in the first half and 25-12 in the second. Jensine Boesl was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with seven points.
The Vikings, who are 6-0 in conference play, sit alone in first place in the Dunn-St. Croix conference. The Bulldogs share a piece of the bottom with Glenwood City and Spring Valley who all have identical 1-5 conference records.
Coach Bird is hoping to find a way to get more offensive production in their upcoming games.
The Lady Dawgs played Monday night (January 20th) in Mondovi and will continue traveling when they head to Plum City on Thursday, January 23rd when they face the Elmwood/Plum City Wolves for the second time this season. In their previous match up against the Wolves, the Bulldogs lost by a mere three points. Boyceville will also play in Elk Mound on Friday, January 24 in a rescheduled contest from the previous Friday that was postponed by the winter storm.
The Bulldogs busy schedule will continue with a non-conference game next Monday, January 27 when they host state-ranked Clear Lake followed by a home game against Glenwood City the following evening, Tuesday, January 28.
