News for the week of January 12th to the 18th:
The week kicked off with the Monday morning Craft group getting busy on their sewing projects in the Square. After craft group, we set up the Square for the much-loved Green Leaf Café! Before long, the room looked just like a small town pub. As the residents gathered, waitresses Tina, Sherrie, and Tanya took orders and served up drinks. Everyone enjoyed visiting while Chef Andy prepared their food, fresh off the grill and hot out of the deep fryer. All agreed, everything tasted great! Later that afternoon, residents gathered on Willow to create beautiful Forever Flowers … no water or warm weather required! They sure make a cheerful addition to the dining room amidst this snowy scenery!
Tuesday morning found Al, Toby, Vern and Gus exchanging cards, quips, and sharing coffee and cookies during their weekly Cribbage hour on Sandy Ridge. Residents on East spent the morning getting fresh manicures … what a great way to spend the morning! After lunch, the Catholics gathered for prayers and devotions on Willow. Bingo was the name of the game in the afternoon. Always a favorite activity, there were smiles aplenty and full “loot bags” by the end! We sure are thankful for our devoted volunteers Michelle, Linnea, and Patty, who always make this a fun time!
Pastor Hal Schroetter of Barum & Big Elk Creek Lutheran churches led us in our Wednesday morning church service and distributed the sacrament. We sure do appreciate him taking time to come and share the Word with us. The afternoon found residents gathered in the Square to enjoy an hour of wonderful music from one of our long-time favorite entertainers, Eric Nielsen.
On Thursday morning, residents gathered on Willow to finish snipping apart old calendars for scrapbooking and theme books. “Waste not, want not” is our motto … there’s a use for everything! The afternoon found our Thursday afternoon Farkle group ready for a competitive game of fast-moving dice in the Square.
We gathered in the Square Friday morning for Gospel Sing a Long with Kathy on piano and Bruce on guitar. Always a wonderful morning of prayer and our favorite hymns. Friday afternoon means Dime Bingo in the Square, which is always a fun-filled way to cap off the week!
We hope to see many of you at our annual Beer & Wine Tasting this Saturday, January 25th from 5:00-7:30pm. Come for good food, good drinks, good company, and a chance at some fabulous prizes!
