5 Dunn County Board seats have no candidates for April election

MENOMONIE — Five Dunn County Board positions have no candidates for the April 7 election while the other districts have one candidate each.
Nomination papers for the Dunn County Board election were due January 7.
According to information posted on the Dunn County clerk’s website, the following districts do not have candidates for the April election: District 13 (currently held by John Rocco Calabrese of Menomonie), District 16 (currently held by Robin Sweeney of Menomonie), District 20 (currently held by Mary S. Solberg of Menomonie), District 27 (currently held by Dale Harschlip of Mondovi) and District 29 (currently held by Gary Seipel of Eau Galle).
Two of the districts, District 13 and District 27, had candidates who made a declaration of candidacy, but they will not be placed on the April ballot.
For District 13, Kevin J. Buchert of Menomonie declared candidacy on December 31 but did not return nomination papers to the Dunn County clerk’s office.
For District 27, Paul Onstad of Mondovi declared candidacy January 3 but did not return nomination papers to the Dunn County clerk’s office.
John Rocco Calabrese, who currently is the representative for District 13, filed a notification of non-candidacy by the deadline in December but then submitted nomination papers on January 7 for District 14 and has been approved to be on the ballot.
Anyone who wishes to run for a Dunn County Board supervisor position as a write-in candidate must fill out a campaign registration statement at the county clerk’s office. The campaign registration statement is due by noon on the Friday before the election, which would be April 3.
The following county board districts have one candidate each, who have been approved to be on the April 7 ballot based on the proper number of qualified signatures included on the nomination papers:
• District 1 — Brian R. Johnson, Colfax.
• District 2 — David Bartlett, Boyceville. Bartlett currently serves as the chair of the Dunn County Board.
• District 3 — Vaughn Hedlund, Boyceville.
• District 4 — Ronald B. Score, Boyceville.
• District 5 — Gary Stene, Colfax.
• District 6 — Jim Zons, Colfax.
• District 7 — Gary Bjork, Colfax.
• District 8 — Charles L. Maves, Boyceville.
• District 9 — Tom Quinn, Downing.
• District 10 — Michael Rogers, Menomonie.
• District 11 — James R. Anderson, Menomonie.
• District 12 — Mike Kneer, Menomonie.

• District 14 — John R. Calabrese, Menomonie.
• District 15 — Donald O. Kuether, Menomonie.
[District 16 — no candidate]
• District 17 — Kelly McCullough, Menomonie.

• District 26 — Larry R. Bjork, Menomonie.

Supreme Court
Three candidates are running for one justice position for a ten-year term on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Incumbent Justice Dan Kelly faces challengers Edward A. Fallone and Jill Karofsky.
A February 18 primary election will narrow the field to two candidates for the April 7 election.
The term of office for supreme court justice expires July 31, 2020.
Circuit Court
Incumbent Judge James M. Peterson, Dunn County Circuit Court Branch 1, will be the only candidate on the ballot in the April 7 election for a six-year term as circuit court judge.
The term of office for circuit court judges expires July 31, 2020.
