TRENTON McNAMARA

SAVANNA MILLERMON
Glenwood City High/Middle School is proud to announce the September Students of the Month. Optimism was the character trait that was the focus of the month; students who demonstrate a hopefulness and confidence about their future – whether that be long-term or the immediacy of this school year. These students expect a positive outcome over a negative one; they are able to see opportunity in difficulties. Our staff has identified the following students who demonstrate these traits in their interactions.
The September Student of the Month at Glenwood City High School is freshman, Trenton McNamara. In nominating Trenton, Ms. Schutz stated, “I have worked with Trenton since kindergarten and have seen the growth that he has made. This year, as a freshman, he has demonstrated the character trait of optimism. Every day he has a smile on his face and is ready to meet the challenges of each class head on. He works hard in COMPASS to complete his homework and never complains. He has matured as a student and young man and I am so proud of how far he has come. His maturity and positive outlook this year have led me to have him be a mentor for another student in an effort to demonstrate how to overcome challenges and be a great role model. I look forward to watching him grow throughout the year and beyond.”
Trenton is the son of Trista and Brandon Engle.
The September Student of the Month at Glenwood City Middle School is eighth grader, Savanna Millermon. Savanna was recognized by Mr. Score, who stated, “In the two years that I have worked with Savanna, it has become obvious that she is an optimist. No matter what the circumstances, Savanna works to do her best, and looks at all situations with optimism. Even now, with a leg injury that not only makes life more difficult and participating in her fall sport impossible, Savanna is still an optimistic person. She has all the reason in the world to be disappointed by her circumstance, but she continues to be self-confident through it all. Savanna’s optimism is contagious and a great example for all of us!”
Savanna is the daughter of Amanda and Shawn Millermon.
Students of the Month are rewarded by having a lunch provided for them and a friend as well as being issued a unique piece of Hilltopper apparel. In addition, students are provided with preferential parking (for them or a family member).
Congratulations to Trenton and Savanna!
We would also like to recognize the following students who were nominated in conjunction with their ability to be optimists – Alex Brigham by Dr. Ketola; Logan Bazille by Mr. Lamb; Alex Peralta by Mr. VanderWaal; Freddy Leandro-Mendez by Mr. Lamb; Opal Voeltz by Mr. Lamb; Cecelia Slayton by Ms. Anderson; and Haylee Schone by Ms. Minor.
