The School District of Glenwood City, along with the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department and the Glenwood City Police Department invite the public to a civilian response to active shooter event on Thursday, November 14, 2019, in the Glenwood City High School Gym.
Community members frequently request Law Enforcement officers and agencies to provide directions and presentations on what civilians should do if confronted with an active shooter event. The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE course) was designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, and Defend strategy, developed by ALERRT, to provide strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
What to Expect: Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options and medical issues. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to respond and react and will be given various options that may be available to them during an active shooter event. Note: Due to the sensitive nature of the topic and graphic photos and videos, this event is limited to those 18 years of age and older.
Instructor: Chief Craig Yehlik of the New Richmond Police Department has been an officer for over 20 years. Chief Yehlik is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and is a certified CRASE instructor through Texas State University. He has also received training in Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response (ALERRT).
Cost: There is NO charge for anyone attending this event. This event is being offered on behalf of the Glenwood City School District, the Glenwood City Police Department and the St. Croix County Sherriff’s Department.
