MONDOVI — “A good night of volleyball for the Bulldogs!” exclaimed head coach Keri Peterson as the Lady Bulldogs beat Mondovi on the Buffaloes home turf this past Tuesday, September 24, three sets to one.
The win keeps Boyceville unbeaten in Dunn-St. Croix play at 2-0. Overall, the Bulldogs are 7-11.
It was a hard fought battle as the scores for three of the four sets were just two points apart. The Lady Dawgs took the first two sets with identical scores of 25-23. In the third set, they faltered and came up short 16-25. Coach Peterson remarked that they didn’t play composed and Mondovi capitalized on this.
The fourth set went a little long as the Bulldogs prevailed 26-24. Peterson was extremely happy to get their second conference win, especially on the road when it was Mondovi’s parents’ night.
Peterson praised Ella Holden saying, “She had a great night hitting, putting down 12 kills.” She also complimented Chrissa Kersten, “[She] dug the ball well for us and put us in position to score at some key times.”
“We played a lot of kids and together we came away with a win.” commented Peterson. She went on to admit, “We still have some things to improve on–eliminating blocking and serving errors would certainly help put us in a better position of making us more competitive.”
Emma Ouellette and Torrie Bland combined for 24 assists. Ella led in kills with 12 followed by Hannah Johnson with eight, Kady Grambow with six and Taylor Grambow and Megan Hintzman each with four.
Hannah led in digs with 19 and Chrissa had 12. Torrie served up four aces while Chrissa had three of her own. Taylor and Hannah each had three blocks.
The Bulldogs hosted Durand on Tuesday, October 1st and will be in Spring Valley on the 3rd to face the Cardinals. Boyceville will return home next Monday, October 7 to host a non-conference match against Somerset.
