ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound school district has eight new staff members this year: six teachers, one school counselor and one school nurse.
Bourget
Cindy Bourget joined the staff in the Elk Mound school district this year as a school counselor.
Bourget is a 2005 graduate of Elk Mound High School. She received degrees in school counseling from UW-River Falls in 2009 and UW-Stout in 2015.
Prior to accepting the position in Elk Mound, Bourget worked in the Boyceville school district.
“Elk Mound is a wonderful community, and I’m excited to serve the students and families here,” she said.
Dole
Samantha Dole is serving the Elk Mound school district as a first grade teacher at Mound View Elementary.
Dole is a 2005 graduate of Regis High School. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from UW-Eau Claire in 2010.
Prior to accepting the position in Elk Mound, she taught in the Chippewa Falls school district.
“I student taught in Elk Mound and had a wonderful experience. I was drawn to the close-knit community and the dedication of the staff. I knew then that it was a community that I wanted to be part of,” Dole said.
Keefer
Samantha Keefer is a second grade teacher at Mound View Elementary.
Keefer graduated from Baldwin-Woodville High School in 2015 and is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire.
Her second-grade subjects will include Phonics, Reading, Writing, Math and Science.
This is Keefer’s first year of teaching.
“I applied for this position because I student taught here, and absolutely loved it,” she said.
Lokken
Amy Lokken is serving the Elk Mound school district as the school nurse.
Lokken is a 2003 graduate of Mondovi High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 2006 and completed her nursing degree in 2008.
Prior to accepting the position in the Elk Mound school district, Lokken worked as a labor, delivery, post-partum and special care nursery nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital.
“I am excited to begin working in the Elk Mound school district. It is an opportunity that will support my personal and professional growth goals,” she said.
DeRoeck
Ryan DeRoeck is teaching second grade at Mound View Elementary.
DeRoeck is a 2010 graduate of Sartell High School in Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota — Morris in 2014 with a degree in Elementary Education.
Prior to accepting the position at Elk Mound, DeRoeck taught third grade in Annandale, Minnesota, for four years and taught fourth grade in Mondovi for one year.
“I’ve heard such wonderful things about Elk Mound and the school district here. When I interviewed, I fell in love with the idea of teaching here and being a Mounder!” DeRoeck said.
Stoiber
Jenny Stoiber is teaching seventh grade World Geography and eighth grade Science at Elk Mound Middle School.
Stoiber is a 2003 graduate of Park Falls High School, and she is a 2019 graduate of Grand Canyon University (GCU) with a bachelor’s degree in Early Elementary K-8.
She completed her student teaching in River Falls.
“Elk Mound is a small community that puts great pride and dedication into their students, staff and community members. I love the small town feel. Everyone is very welcoming,” Stoiber said.
Stuttgen
Jacob Stuttgen is teaching seventh and eighth grade math at Elk Mound Middle School.
Stuttgen is a 2014 graduate of Fall Creek High School, and he is a 2019 graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Math.
This is Stuttgen’s first year of teaching.
“I student taught here, and during my time here, I realized how special the Mounder family was, so I had to be part of it,” he said.
Tilus
Derrick Tilus is teaching 8-12 vocal music in the Elk Mound school district.
Tilus is a 2006 graduate of Annandale High School in Minnesota. He is a 2011 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education.
Prior to accepting the position in Elk Mound, Tilus taught in the Chippewa Falls school district.
