News for the week of September 1st – 7th:
Sunday at the Big Yellow House we had a small gathering in East and colored and decorated paper pumpkins. We are getting ready for Fall and the Harvest and enjoying decorating the hallways and doors.
Monday was quiet here at the Big Yellow House as it was Labor Day. Our day was filled with visits and word puzzles and a little history reading about Labor Day. Loretta was here as always on Mondays to lead us in the Rosary, we appreciate her coming in.
Tuesday morning is always off to a great start with Al, Gus and Toby leading the Cribbage group. The residents always look forward to this weekly gathering, although sometimes I think it is more about the company and cookies than the game itself! Catholic Prayer time was held in Willow, we appreciate that this always happens for the Residents. As always there was Prize Bingo in the Square, where everyone goes home a winner! Kathy Ryder keeps our treat box full and we love to win those yummy treats! To end our day, Jordan came before supper and we enjoyed songs and praise.
Pastor Hendrickson led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and also singing along to our favorite hymns. JC Colby was our musical talent this afternoon in our square. We enjoyed having him and his musical talents to entertain us. Later in the afternoon, we gathered in East to paint some leaves on trees with Q-tips! We had a lot of fun and made some interesting trees!
Thursday, residents gathered in the East Lounge for Resident Council. The residents are able to give us feedback on everything going on from the menu to activities and other happenings in the facility. We enjoy the meeting and work hard to make sure all needs and wants are met. Outdoor visits were cancelled due to weather and instead we had a reading group in the East Lounge later in the afternoon. It was a nice relaxing afternoon. Fellowship with Jordan in the Rotunda is always a great way to end our day.
On Friday morning we gathered in the Square for Gospel Sing a Long. This activity has been a weekly tradition for many years here at Colfax Health and Rehab, and the residents enjoyed listening to the talents of Kathy on piano and Bruce on the guitar. Friday afternoon always bring us Dime Bingo in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
Saturday was our community Parade and we were able to ride along with the Hedrington’s on their wagon. It was a great day for Residents and our Staff as we threw out candy to the community and practiced our Parade waves! The weather was perfect and the company was even better.
Next week will hold more adventures and fun for the Residents of Colfax Health and Rehabilitation so stay tuned!
