ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound school district has set two focus group meetings September 4 and September 9 to identify potential projects for the high school and middle school.
The Elk Mound Board of Education discussed the focus group meetings at the August 26 meeting.
The September 4 meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Elk Mound High School auditorium.
The September 9 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Elk Mound Middle School commons area.
The meetings will begin with an introduction and an explanation of “how we arrived here,” will proceed to a walk-through of the high school on September 4 and a walk-through of the middle school on September 9 to identify potential projects and will conclude with questions and feedback, said Eric Wright, school district administrator.
Community surveys will be sent out the first week of October, and the results of the surveys will be reviewed at 6 p.m. October 28 prior to the regular board of education meeting, he said.
Other business
• Approved a one-year leave of absence for middle school boys’ basketball coach Michael Proft.
• Accepted the resignation of Elk Mound Middle School Science Olympiad advisor Brandon Powell, who will be teaching high school science this year.
During a closed session, the Elk Mound Board of Education:
• Approved hiring Cindy Bourget as a guidance counselor.
• Approved hiring Emily Rosenthal as a part-time regular education aide.
• Approved hiring Stephanie Thortsen as a food service worker.
• Approved hiring Alan Bourget as a bus mechanic.
• Approved hiring Jenny Stoiber as a middle school teacher.
• Approved hiring Jenny Stoiber as the Elk Mound Middle School Science Olympiad advisor.
The Elk Mound Board of Education meets next on September 16 at 7 p.m.
