News for the week of August 4th:
We took advantage of the beautiful weather on Monday to grill on our flip flop charcoal grills. We gathered in the gazebo to watch the chicken cook. It wasn’t long and the chicken was ready to serve. After tasting it, all agreed, it is really good! We look forward to a few more grill outs before the summer is over. Monday afternoon Brenda brought in her week old chicks for the residents to enjoy! Many residents shared stories of growing up with chicks on the farm.
Tuesday morning activities included bowling in the square on the Wii. Add residents and it makes for an hour of fun. The afternoon brought out many Bingo enthusiasts for an hour of their favorite game. Michelle, Linnea, Patty, and Eileen made sure the game ran smoothly. Once again, Kathy helped fill the resident’s goody bags with a variety of different snacks.
Pastor Conklin led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and also singing along to our favorite hymns. Our newest entertainer to our Wednesday afternoon music is Wayne Compeau. The residents loved his enthusiasm and can’t wait to enjoy him again.
Thursday proved to be a busy day for residents, staff, and animals. Open up Tuschl’s trailer and let out the goats and open up Nurse Deanna’s pet carrier and let out the bunnies. With wonderful weather it made for a great morning activity and many stories to share. Then Residents gathered in the East Dining Room for our weekly Noodle fun. This activity brings out our competitive side, and all agree it’s a fun way to get some exercise. Later that afternoon, everyone gathered in the Square to help cheer on the Packers for our first Packer tailgate party. We enjoyed appetizers and Penny won the Packer door prize.
Friday morning the residents gathered in the Square for Gospel Sing a Long. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of prayer and song. After lunch it was Dime Bingo. While the residents enjoyed bingo, the staff busied themselves preparing for our 6th annual Pig Roast Extravaganza. God blessed us with a beautiful summer day. Even though the temperature was a little warm, the tents were ready to provide everyone with shade while they ate. It was a beautiful evening with a great turn out! As always, it takes the generosity and hard work of many people to make an event like this possible and make it the success it was. Not only with the help from the community, but the many extra hours that the staff put in.
