News for the week of July 21st:
Once again we took advantage of the beautiful weather on Monday to use our flip flop charcoal grills. Residents gathered in the gazebo to watch the chicken cook and smell the wonderful smoke coming from the grills. While waiting for the chicken to finish, we shared stories of past family gatherings and the food we served. It wasn’t long and the chicken was ready to serve. After tasting it, all agreed, it is the only way to do chicken! We look forward to many more grill outs before the summer is over. Later that afternoon, the Catholics gathered in the East Lounge with Loretta for our weekly Rosary.
Tuesday morning activities start out on Ridge Crest with the cribbage club lead by Al and Gus. Meanwhile many of the ladies were pampered with a fresh coat of paint on their nails. Before lunch, Mary Ann came to share the sacrament of communion with our Catholics. After lunch, the Catholics gather on Willow for the hour of prayer lead by Patty. We appreciate her taking the time to share with the residents. Then the afternoon found for our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats. Volunteers Michelle and Eileen always make sure this fun hour runs smoothly.
Pastor Mike Sparby led us in our Wednesday morning church service. We appreciate him taking the time to come all the way from Sand Creek and share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message and also singing along to our favorite hymns. Dick Hinke was the entertainment for the afternoon and the square was full of toe tapping and laughter. Residents enjoyed the music of the accordion and look forward to future visits. After supper, many gathered on the front yard to cheer on the Colfax kids in a game of T-Ball. Many agree this is a great way to enjoy the summer evenings.
Thursday morning, once again found our residents gathering in the East Lounge for a game of noodle fun! The residents love to play and the bonus to this activity is we get a little exercise too! “Float away with a Float” was the theme for the afternoon activity. Many residents gathered in the East Dining room to enjoy root beer floats while others enjoyed them in the comfort of their own room.
Friday mornings, Gospel sing-a-long was held in the square. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of prayer and song. The residents enjoyed listening to the talents of Kathy on the piano and Bruce on the guitar. Friday afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the square. It is always a great way to end the week. After Bingo many gather to enjoy good conversation and a fresh cup of coffee.
