News for the week of July 14th – 20th
The hot and humid weather kept us indoors on Monday, but we still kept busy. Monday morning we gathered in the East Lounge for our weekly reading group. Brenda read a few short stories from the Good Old Days Magazine. We could all relate to the story about “family vacations.” We all reminisced about our own family vacations and how much fun and work they were. The Catholics gathered in the East Lounge for our weekly Rosary group led by Loretta. Fin the miniature horse couldn’t make it this week because of the weather so we enjoyed Noodle Fun in the afternoon. In the end, we all agree this was a great way to spend the afternoon with laughter and good friendship.
Tuesday mornings begin with our weekly cribbage game on Ridge Crest. There they enjoyed an hour of fresh homemade cookies, hot coffee, and fast flying cards. Later in the morning many of the Ladies were found in the East Dining getting pampered. It was fresh manicures and new nail polish for all. Many choose a bright summer colors. The afternoon found our Bingo enthusiasts in the Square. All went away with bags full of treats. Volunteers Michelle, Patty, and Eileen always make sure this fun hour run smoothly. Just before supper we were blessed to have Jordan Herrick come and spend some time with us. Not only does he bring us an inspiring message, but also sings some of our favorite hymns.
Pastor Walck led us in our Wednesday morning church service with communion. We appreciate him taking the time to come and share with us. We enjoyed his inspiring message, and also singing along to our favorite hymns. After church it was time to decorate for our Assisted Living Family Summer Picnic. The Square filled up fast as residents and their families gathered to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch of grilled cheeseburgers, Creamy Cucumber Salad, German Potato Salad, and Strawberry Short cake for dessert. After the meal, we were entertained with music by JC Colby.
Thursday morning, residents gathered in the East Lounge and met with Brenda for Stretch and Stories. It is a good time to visit and get some much needed exercise. The afternoon found the residents doing a little gambling. It was time for the Disc Drop Game. Residents are given cards with numbers on, and they try to guess which numbered box the disc will drop into after going thru a maze of pegs on a board. The winners go away with some delicious prizes. That evening after bounce ball, residents spent some time in an hour of prayer and devotions led by Jordan Herrick. It is great that he takes time from his busy schedule to share with us.
Friday morning, many Residents gathered in the Square to join Bruce and Kathy for Gospel Sing a Long. We love picking out our favorite hymns to sing. Kathy and Bruce lead us in this hour of music and prayer. All agree this is a great way to start the day. Friday afternoon, Dime Bingo was played in the Square. It is always a great way to end the week.
It seems like we just started planning for our annual Pig Roast and now it’s almost here! Mark August 9th on your calenders, for an evening of good food and toe tapping music.
