ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound High School Scholarship Fund awarded scholarships to nine seniors this spring.
Morgan Radtke, daughter of Rod and Michelle Radtke, received a $1,000 scholarship. Morgan plans to attend Michigan Technological University to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.
Morgan was active in volleyball, basketball and softball for four years. She also took part in E-Club and Science Olympiad. She served on the Elk Mound High School Student Council and also was the student council representative for the Elk Mound Board of Education.
Also receiving a $1,000 scholarship is Ethan Kaanta, son of Rebecca Livingston and Kris Kaanta. Ethan plans to attend UW-Eau Claire, majoring in Information Systems.
Ethan was a four-year athlete in football, powerlifting and baseball. He was also involved in E-Club and Science Olympiad.
Seven students received scholarships of $500 each. Those students were Alana Plaszcz, Danielle Olson, Kaitlin Schiferl, Victoria Fasbender, Cameron Johnson, Kayla Ruppelt and Ashley Gunderson-Morris.
Danielle Olson is the daughter of Tim and Andrea Olson. She plans to attend Winona State University to pursue a degree in nursing.
Danielle was active in band and Fellowship of Christian Athletes for four years. She also participated in volleyball, cross country, Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society.
Kaitlin Schiferl also received a $500 scholarship. Kaitlin plans to attend Viterbo University to major in nursing. She is the daughter of Dale and Kristin Schiferl.
At EMHS, Kaitlin participated in volleyball and golf for four years. She also was active in basketball, Student Council, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America.
Cameron Johnson received a $500 scholarship as well. He is the son of Brian and Kristi Johnson. Cameron will pursue a dual degree program. He will study Physics at UW-Eau Claire and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Minnesota.
Cameron was active in Science Olympiad all four years. He also participated in Academic Decathlon, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and track and field.
Kayla Marie Ruppelt, daughter of Monica and Robert Ruppelt, received a $500 scholarship too. Kayla’s plans for the upcoming school year are to attend St. Norbert College for Secondary Education.
Kayla was an active musician as she took part in jazz band, pep band and marching band for eight years. She was in archery club for five years and was in Student Council and a class officer for four years. She also belonged to the National Honor Society.
Victoria Fasbender was another $500 scholarship winner. She is the daughter of Scott Fasbender and Kyia Stygar. She plans to attend UW-Stevens Point for a degree in wildlife biology.
Victoria participated in basketball and track for four years. She also was in cross country, National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, E-Club, Student Council and volleyball.
Alana Plaszcz will use her $500 scholarship to attend Northcentral Technical College to study dental hygiene. Alana is the daughter of Jackie and Craig Plaszcz.
Alana participated in cross country, track and field and basketball for four years. She also was active in E-Club and the National Honor Society.
Ashley Gunderson-Morris is the ninth scholarship winner. She is the daughter of Lisa Morris and Renee Gunderson. Ashley plans to attend UW-LaCrosse to study psychology.
Her activities in high school included basketball, National Honor Society, Student Council and Prom Committee.
