Elk Mound golfers improve on the course while Colfax’s struggles continue

The Elk Mound golf team season-long improvement continued last week as it finished third in a pair of 6-team Dunn-St. Croix meets in Mondovi and Glenwood City.
Colfax, however, remained mired in last place in both meets.
The Mounders finished third in Mondovi last Monday, May 6 and then equaled that finish in a meet at Glen Hills Golf Course on Friday, May 10. Elk Mound shot a 192 at the Valley Golf Course in Mondovi and then shaved three strokes off that tally for a 189 point finish at Glen Hills last Friday.
Colfax, unfortunately, went the opposite direction, scoring a 253 in Mondovi before taking a 265 tally at Glen Hills. The Vikings were sixth in both meets.
Durand continued its domination of this season’s D-SC golf scene as it picked up its fourth and fifth conference victories heading into yesterday’s conference tournament held at Mondovi’s Valley Golf Course.
Spring Valley came in second at both meets.
Colfax will play in the Division 3 Cadott regional at Whispering Pines Golf Course next Tuesday, May 21. Elk Mound will play in Division 2 regional which will be held the following day, Wednesday, May 22, at Whispering Pines.
Mondovi
Colton Ward finished in eighth place with a score of 45 to lead Elk Mound’s varsity at Mondovi last Monday, May 6.
Max Marquardt finished 12th with a 57. Ethan Rubenzer and Kaitlin Schiferl each shot 50s for the Mounders and Marcus Kinblom had a 54.
Rylee Satter carded a 56 to top the Colfax list of players.
Hunter Rebak scored a 62 and Tristan Lenz tallied a 65 for the Vikings, who also had scores of 70 from Boden Bergeson and Tanner Nierenhausen.
Glen Hills
Colfax had three golfers shoot in the 60s when they competed at Glen Hills last Friday.
Tristan Lenz scored a 62 with Boden Bergeson and Hunter Rebak carding a 65 and 66 respectively.
But the Vikings’ scores went up from there as Tanner Nierenhausen finished with a 72 and Rylee Satter finished with a 99 for a team tally of 265.
Elk Mound had a much better go at Glen Hills as the team finished with a 189.
Ethan Rubenzer shot a 44 and Max Marquardt tallied a 46 to lead the Mounders’ five some. Rubenzer took fourth overall while Marquardt was eighth.
Marcus Kinblom carded a 49, Colton Ward shot a 50 and Kaitlin Schiferl scored a 54.
