Glenwood City Schools had three teams compete at the Destination Imagination Regional Tournament, which was held on Saturday, March 30th at Hudson High School.
The middle school team, “Owl Let You Know”, advanced to the State DI Tournament after taking first place at the regional tournament. With the win, the “Owl Let You Know” squad advanced to the state tournament which was held on Saturday, April 13th at the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay.
The middle school team, “Owl Let You Know”, members included Genna Gretzlock, Emily Tews, and Elsja Meijer. Their manager was Lisa Berends.
Glenwood City also had a pair of elementary teams, “Last Case Scenario” and “GC Geek Freeks”.
The “Last Case Scenerio” squad was comprised of Connor Tews, Jaxin Olson, Michael Quechulpa-Lee, Charlie Bogie. Managers for the team were Lisa Berends and Jess Olson.
The “GC Geek Freeks” team members were Evelyn Gossel, Brooklyn Macheska, Aleena Main, Gus Kohler, Gabe Kohler, Lillian Fox. Managers were Laura Lee and Tiffany Fox.
Destination Imagination is a volunteer-led, educational non-profit organization that teaches “21st century” skills and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) principles to kindergarten through university level students through collaborative problem solving challenges.
Students form teams of up to 7 members, select their preferred Challenge and work together to develop a solution to the Challenge. Each team has at least one team manager (often a parent or teacher) who helps keep the team on track, but does not assist or interfere with the team’s project.
