MENOMONIE — A Menomonie man has died after the SUV he was driving left a Town of Menomonie roadway, struck a tree and overturned the morning of April 10.
Paul R. Darnell, 60 of rural Menomonie, was pronounced dead at the scene by tthe Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
According to a release from the Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd, authorities were notified shortly after 10:00 a.m. last Wednesday, April 10th that a vehicle had been found on its side in the 4500 blcok of 380th Avenue in the Town of Menomonie.
The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office along with Menomonie Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
The subsequent investigation showed that Darnell had been traveling westbound when his SUV failed to negotiate the corner on 380th Ave, left the roadway and struck a large tree which caused the vehicle to overturn.
The preliminary investigation showed speed was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
