COLFAX — Twelve Colfax High School students were inducted in the CHS Chapter of the National Honor Society March 27 at a ceremony in the Martin Anderson Gymnasium.
The new members are Brynn Bergeson, Caden Erickson, Drew Gibson, Abigail Irwin, Devan Olson, Jaclyn Olson, Adeline Paulson, Kendra Pickett, Katie Riley, Quinn Russell, Rachel Scharlau and Brooklyn Stehling.
Advisors for the CHS chapter of National Honor Society are Mark Mosey, Lisa Neuburg, Jennifer Steinke, Michael Dombrowski and Kara Zutter.
Hailey Prince presented the “welcome” for the program while Kaitlyn Albricht provided the introduction of current members.
Trevin Mounce Hinrichs spoke about NHS requirements, and George Scharlau presented information about the founding of NHS.
Taylor Meyer explained what it means to be in NHS, and Tanner Nierenhausen, NHS president, spoke about the induction of new members.
McKenna Yingst, NHS secretary, presented information about character, while Tate Russell, NHS treasurer, spoke on scholarship.
Wyatt Olson, NHS vice-president, spoke about Leadership, and Dalton Bradford spoke about service.
Emma Hurlburt presented the NHS pledge, and Jacob Frideres presented the certificates of membership.
Clare Lyrek and Madison Shipley introduced CHS’s two foreign exchange students.
Abby Klueckmann provided the closing.
Eve Suckow produced the certificates, while Alyssa Dachel and Christina Michels were responsible for the programs.
Neuburg’s food class provided desserts for the reception following.

CHS juniors who are members of NHS include Noah Albricht, Abigail Anderson, Juelia Berger, Jayna Bowe, Jozie Buchanan, Elizabeth Dachel, Abby DeMoe, Edward Doerr, Pierce Harvey, Trey Hovde, Edward Hydukovich, Taylor Irwin, Morgan Jensen, Wesley Kallstrom, Cole Kiekhafer, Hailey Klukas, Aza Knaack, Amanda Lamm, Hunter Larson, Nathaniel Lee, Belinda Loew, Kameri Meredith, Jakob Moore, Jazmyne Peterson, Zachary Rindy, Kali Risler, Morgan Schleusner, Kayla Scholfield, Haley Seston, Josie Steinke and Daniel Zons.
According to the National Honor Society website, “To become a member of NHS, you must be selected as a candidate by your chapter’s faculty council. Students who meet their chapter’s cumulative GPA requirement are then considered for membership on the basis of service, leadership and character. You may be asked to complete a candidate form created and distributed by your local chapter. Membership is determined by a majority vote of the faculty council, following an evaluation of candidates’ qualifications for membership.”
