- A LITTLE HELP FROM FRIENDS — The newsboys on strike in New York City in 1899 in “Newsies (The Musical)” received help from an unlikely source, McKenna Yingst (Katherine Plumber, who was Joseph Pulitzer’s daughter). Plumber wanted to write hard news and got her big break with the strike. “Newsies” was performed in the Martin Anderson Gymnasium by Colfax High School and Colfax Middle School students March 22, 23 and 24. — Photo by LeAnn R.
