Our week started out with music with Rudy Rudesill on Saturday.
Sunday was St. Patrick’s Day, so residents and tenants enjoyed corned beef and cabbage. Had great reviews from the residents on the meal. They thought it was great! Thanks to all our good cooks!
We continued the Irish fun on Monday, with a St. Pat’s party. Everyone donned their green clothes, and we had hats and necklaces for everyone to wear. We played a game called, appropriately, “LUCK”. It is much like Bingo, except you shake dice to figure out which number to cover, and you have to cover the whole board. It’s a lot of fun. Residents, (I should say some of them) enjoyed reuben dip on pumpernickel bread, shamrock cookies and shamrock shakes after the game. I say some of them, since a couple of the guys weren’t fond of the dip. The ladies loved it!
Pastor Dahm from Forest Immanuel was here on Tuesday for church services, which was followed by manicures. We had some newbies that learned how to play dominoes with us in the afternoon. We played Mexican Train, which was taught to us by Doris Herdahl. A good time was had by all, and the big winner was Olga Waters, who won both rounds. Congrats, Olga!
We welcomed the first day of spring with a nice sunny day. Can’t wait to see this snow disappear! We still have our contest going on to see who guesses closest to the day the snow is all gone. The ladies had beauty shop in the morning, and in the afternoon the activity department, with the help of a lot of volunteers, hosted Bingo. Thanks to Dennis, Bobbie, Sue, Dale and Dar for your help!
The Little Acorns came up to visit on Thursday morning, so we got out the parachute and some balloons and played parachute in Household E. Residents always love to see the kids come-they are always entertaining. After parachute, a couple of the men tried their skill at horse shoes, and we did a little St. Pat’s Trivia.
Friday was popcorn in the morning, and several ladies joined Pastor Jan and her helpers for Lenten Bible study in the afternoon.
