Hello Glenwood City!
My name is Katie Schneider and I’m your new Library Director. I wanted to share with you some exciting things happening at your library and more to come in the future! I’m excited to be here and to serve the community of Glenwood City.
First off, your library is now Fine Free! The library is no longer charging for overdue fines for materials that are returned late. Please enjoy our resources! Bear in mind that you could still receive overdue fees from other libraries, and the Glenwood City Public Library will still charge for lost or damaged materials.
The library now has two Hotspots to checkout! These HotSpots were funded by St. Croix County. A HotSpot is a device which allows you to connect to the internet with high speeds and acts as your personal mobile broadband connection. You can securely connect WiFi-enabled devices, such as tablets, laptops or additional smartphones, anywhere you have cellular service. To check out a HotSpot you must be 18 years of age, provide a driver’s license or WI ID, provide a current MORE library card in good standing and must complete a Mobile WiFi Hotspot User Agreement. A 14-day checkout with no renewals, $5/day fine and must checkout/return the HotSpot in person at the Circulation Desk at Glenwood City Public Library.
The library is offering Home Delivery to Glenwood City residents who can’t visit the library due to illness, disability, or ongoing lack of transportation. The deliveries and pickups will be once a month. We offer a range of books, DVDs, audiobooks, Music CDs and even Large Print. This service is completely FREE!
I would like to share that there was an anonymous donation of recently new books and we will be getting another donation from the same anonymous person in a couple of months. If you love to read Young Adult books, stop in because most of these books are YA.
We have an exciting event this month called It’s Slime Time! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making green slime! The Free event will be held Friday, March 15th at 4 PM and it is open to all! I have to admit, I’m a kid at heart when it comes to making slime! Come join the fun and see all that your Glenwood City Public Library has to offer!
Coming Soon:
National Library Week is April 7th – 13th, 2019! The library will be giving out free library cards for patrons who have lost their cards. Family Movie Night on Thursday, April 11th at 5:30 PM and we will be showing Mary Poppins Returns. The library will have two prize baskets to give away, one for Kids and Adults. To enter the drawing, visit your library and enter your name! Keep your eye out for the businesses in town that are participating in National Library Week. **Hint** make sure you have your library card on hand. More information coming soon!
After all of this crazy winter weather, I have been thinking about summer! The Summer Reading program is in the works, and yes, for ALL ages! The library already has booked three performers for the summer along with some exciting events. Stay tuned!
If you have any questions, please call or email me. I’m here for you!
