Glenwood City holds 2019 Spelling Bee, winners announced

The Glenwood City School District Annual Spelling Bee was held on February 8th, 2019. Genna Gretzlock took home the title of Champion once again, with the winning word, “beneath”. This is Genna’s 2nd consecutive time defending the title of Champion. Lydia Bennett came in as runner up, with a very intense finish, as the last two competitors battled for the Champion title for 8 rounds. Genna will now represent Glenwood City School District and compete at the Regional Spelling Bee on February 20th in Turtle Lake. Grade winners that competed are as follows: 8th Grade: Elek Anderson, Brooklyn Caress; 7th Grade: Callie Augeson, Ryeah Oehlke; 6th Grade: Genna Gretzlock, Emily Tews; 5th Grade: Lydia Bennett, Lillie McGee; 4th Grade: Preston Arvey, Charlie Bogie; 3rd Grade: Kamryn Brandt, Drew Gretzlock. —photo submitted
