COLFAX — Colfax Village President Gary Stene has filed notification of non-candidacy and will not be running for re-election in April.
The filing deadline for notification of non-candidacy was 5 p.m. December 21.

Anyone wishing to register as a write-in candidate for the open village trustee position on the Colfax Village Board must file a Campaign Registration Statement (CF-1) with the filing office before collecting or spending any money on the campaign.
The CF-1 statement is available from the Wisconsin Election Commission’s website or from the local filing officer, and the deadline to register as a write-in candidate is 12 noon the Friday before the election.
Voters may also write in a candidate on their ballot during the April 2 election.
If there are no write-in candidates, following the election, the Colfax Village Board could ask if any residents are interested in serving on the village board and could then appoint someone to fill the open village trustee position.
