The Springfield Town board had asked the electors in the township for approval to exceed the property tax limit by $50,000 for road improvements.
The request was for an increase of 38 percent in the town levy on the 2019 tax bill, allowing the town to levy $181,048 for the current year and a similar percentage increase in the town levy in subsequent years.
Town voters said no to the request by a vote count of 262 no and 176 yes.
