COLFAX – The Lady Vikings golf team hosted their second conference match of the season against Eau Claire Regis/Altoona and Osseo-Fairchild last Monday.
The back nine of Whitetail Golf Course proved to be a challenging test for those competing in September 10 meet.
This was the first match Colfax, Osseo-Fairchild and Eau Claire Regis/Altoona had competed in dry conditions in over a week and was a welcomed sight to all the competitors.
Colfax once again finished second to Osseo-Fairchild but it was the closest the Vikings have been to the Thunder all season as they finished just three strokes behind with a score of 221 and barely beat third-place Eau Claire Regis/Altoona by one stroke.
Abby DeMoe earned her fourth win for the Lady Vikings shooting 49, while teammate Morgan Schleusner finished in second place with her best round of the season with a score of 50.
“Morgan is a really good athlete, we have been waiting for her to put all the pieces together to be a good golfer. She is close and today gave us more optimism that it is true,” head coach Ryan Krall stated.
Senior Abby Klueckmann has been battling an injury, according to coach Krall, but as the Vikings’ post season looms she has been improving and earned her first conference points of the season, earning a tenth place finish with a 68.
The match from Thursday September 13 will be in the September 26 issue of the Messenger.
The Lady Vikes return to Lake Hallie for the 18 hole conference championship meet on September 20, giving Colfax a much needed seven day rest period.
GIRLS TEAM RESULTS: 1. Osseo-Fairchild 218, 2. Colfax 221, 3. Eau Claire Regis/Altoona 222.
COLFAX GIRLS INDIVIDUAL RESULTS: 1. Abby DeMoe 49, 2. Morgan Schleusner 50, 6. McKenna Yingst, 10. Abby Klueckmann 68, Hannah Lemler 70, Abbi Farley 72.
