Members of the Glenwood City FCCLA Chapter joined more than 7,500 FCCLA student leaders, members, and advisers at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA June 28 – July 2 to participate in the annual FCCLA National Leadership Conference (NLC).
The conference provided Glenwood City students opportunities listen to inspiring speakers, expand leadership skills, sharpen talents, explore career pathways, and network with students from other states. The theme of this year’s conference was “Inspired by FCCLA”, and our members were inspired to step outside their comfort zone and become better leaders. For some of the members this was their first opportunity to travel on a plane and see opportunities available outside of our community.
Emma Scholler, Melina Schultz, Alex Holldorf, Hanna Strehlo, Delaney Quinn, and Alexis Albrecht participated in one of 30 Family and Consumer Sciences related STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events These events support foundational, leadership, and workplace skills in areas such as advocacy, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship. Competing with over 4,500 STAR Event participants in Atlanta, Scholler, Strehlo, Quinn, and Albrecht achieved gold in their events and Schultz and Holldorf achieved bronze. As we returned from Atlanta our members were already discussing plans and ideas that they hope will get them to nationals in Anaheim, CA next year.
