Woman born in Colfax looking for information about Stovern Maternity Home

COLFAX  — A woman who was born at the Stovern Maternity Home on Pine Street in Colfax is looking for more information about the maternity home.

Carol Johnson and two of her siblings were born at the Stovern Maternity Home to Helen Elaine Satter Johnson and Reynold Walter Johnson.

Her Aunt Louise (Reynold’s sister) was married to Adolph Stovern, brother to Edwin and Emily Stovern, who owned the maternity home from about 1954 to 1976.

Because there is little written history of the maternity home, Carol is interested in learning more about the home through oral history stories. If you have any stories you would like to share, or information that you know about the Stovern Maternity Home, you can contact her by e-mail at carolj725@cltcomm.net or by letter to 2261 270th Street, Deer Park WI 54007.

Or if you prefer, you can stop into the Colfax Messenger office, 511 East Railroad Avenue, with information about the Stovern Maternity Home.
