Colfax school district recognizes 39 staff members

COLFAX  — The Colfax Board of Education recognized 39 staff members during the annual staff recognition banquet at Whitetail Golf Course May 30.

About 160 people attended the event, including several previous retirees from the school district.

One Year

Staff members who have completed one year of service received a school district pin handed out by Colfax Board of Education member Andy De Moe.

Those who received one-year pins were Corey Adams (high school science); Trista Klemish (high school cross categorial teacher); Shannon Harris (middle school cross categorical teacher); Julia Hydukovich (fourth grade teacher); Maegan LaTulip (fifth grade teacher); Alyssa Smith (middle school history and civics); Derek Westholm (elementary music and band teacher); Lori Gaddy (night custodian); Scot Schmock (paraprofessional working with special needs students); Penny Snyder (full time bus driver); Savannah York (paraprofessional in junior kindergarten).

Five Years

Staff members who have completed five years of service received a paper weight handed out by Colfax Board of Education member Kyle Knutson.

The following staff members received paper weights: Tali Eiseth (first grade teacher); Lori Halpin (sixth grade teacher; will be moving back to middle school next year); Kristina Huset (cross categorical teacher in functional life skills room); John Nelson (high school agriculture teacher; leaving for Cochrane-Fountain City school district); Patti Grant (manages hot lunch and breakfast program and payroll); Beth Kley (paraprofessional functional life skills room); Tina Rothbauer (food service; track and field coach); Terri Ruff (school nurse).

Ten Years

Staff members who have completed 10 years of service received a desk set handed out by Colfax Board of Education member Jodi Kiekhafer.

Those receiving desk sets were Ryan Krall (sixth grade teacher; head boys and girls track coach and head girls golf coach); Chad Johnson (bus and fleet mechanic).

Fifteen Years

Staff members who have completed 15 years of service received a set of book ends handed out by Colfax Board of Education member Ken Bjork.

Those who received book ends were Kimberly Myers (high school English teacher); Peggy Larson (special education secretary and administrative assistant in the high school office); Jodi Jenson (bus driver); Bruce Fransway (bus driver).

Twenty Years

Staff members who have completed twenty years of service received a plaque handed out by Colfax Board of Education member Christie Hill.

Those who received plaques were Melissa Prince (kindergarten teacher; she has also taught junior kindergarten); Jane Buchholtz (daytime custodian and groundskeeper); Dorothy Morning (paraprofessional in early childhood and junior kindergarten); Sandy Sikora (elementary office); Wendy Lausted (crossing guard).

Twenty-five Years

Staff members who have completed twenty-five years of service received a Viking statue handed out by Colfax Board of Education Vice President Ken Neuburg.

Those who received the statues were Vicki Seston (high school math teacher and dance team coach); Sarah Yingst (fifth grade teacher); William C. Yingst Jr. (teacher; principal; and now district administrator); Nancy Wittmer (bus driver ).

Thirty Years

Staff members who have completed thirty years of service received a watch handed out by Colfax Board of Education President Todd Kragness.

Those receiving watches were Linda Bilodeau (sixth grade teacher), and Debra Larson (fourth grade teacher).

Thirty-five Years

The School District of Colfax recognizes staff members who have served for thirty-five years, but there were no staff members for the thirty-five year category this year.

Retirement

Staff members retiring from the Colfax school district receive rings that they have selected.

Those who are retiring this year are Tim Devine (middle school language arts teacher); Kimberly Myers (high school English teacher); and James Keltner (bus driver).
