The Glenwood City Council accepted the resignation of one of its members, Peter Gaustad at their organizational meeting held on Tuesday, April 17.
Gaustad was arrested for child sex crimes, just two days after the April 3rd election that returned him to a seat on the Common Council. The Council decided to request letters from anyone that is interested in serving on the City Council, and they should be addressed to the city before May 10 so the Council could make an appointment to fill the open seat at their regular monthly meeting.
The Council also approved the hiring of Cory Schone to the open position at the City’s Pubic Works Department to replace Mike Norenberg, who took a position with the Village of Knapp.
In other action they donated $2,000 to the Summer Recreation program and appointed Amy Groves to the Library Board of Directors and granted Michael Voeltz an operator’s license.
The Council also approved a resolution to file an application for a Community Development Block Grant for the planned improvements to the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant.
