Glenhaven-Havenwood Happenings – 4-11-2018
Saturday we had a new entertainer, Marta Pedersen, who came and played the fiddle for the residents. They all said it was great, so we’ll have to see about getting her back again.
[emember_protected] Catholic communion was held on Easter morning. Several guests joined their families for Easter dinner at Glenhaven, Grand Oaks and Havenwood. By all reports from the residents, the food was great! What a cold day for Easter. The bunny must have had to wear boots to get around.
The Monday baking club made bars in the afternoon, which were served for inservice on Tuesday, as well as Bingo on Wednesday. They turned out amazingly well, in spite of the fact that the recipe didn’t tell us how much milk to use.
The activity department made a waffle and strawberries breakfast on Tuesday morning, which is always a hit with the residents. Church was cancelled because of the once again icky weather. We did have Live to be Healthy exercises, howerver. Next week will be assessment time on Tuesday exercises.
Resident Council was well attended on Wednesday morning, and Bingo was hosted by the activity department in the afternoon.
Thursday was our open house for the Little Acorns Daycare, as well as the Art Show sponsored by the art department at the school. The students had some beautiful art work to display and we had a very nice crowd for both the Art Show and for Little Acorns. Thanks to all who came to check things out, and to Thrivent for their support of the daycare.
The week ended with Wes coming to bring communion in the morning, and playing several rounds of Shaker Box in the afternoon. We also enjoyed caramel popcorn as a treat as we played. The residents do very well at adding the dice together. It’s an easy game, but a good brain exercise.
