Glenhaven News Dec. 17th-23rd
To start off the busy week at Glenhaven, we started out with Catholic mass with communion in the morning. The afternoon was spent relaxing watching a movie in Household C followed by a social hour.
Monday was a little more relaxed around here. The ladies started off their morning getting manicures done by the activity department. Then later in the afternoon we had baking club during which they made a Candy Cane dessert for their monthly birthday party celebrations. The preschoolers from the Glenwood City Schools came and sang Christmas Carols for the residents and made gingerbread houses with them. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed them tremendously.
There a was church service with Immanuel Lutheran Church Tuesday morning. Following the church service Live to be Healthy came, and the residents had a great session with Steve. Later in the afternoon Jane and Friends came for the annual birthday celebrations and to sing Christmas carols with all the residents. Lots of Christmas cheer was spread throughout the building this afternoon.
On Wednesday later in the afternoon there was a campus wide Christmas party held in the Grand Oaks lobby. There were Christmas goodies-lots of Christmas cookies, cheese and crackers, pickled herring and you can’t forget the favorite Christmas time drinks-Tom and Jerry, Egg Nog and Hot Apple Cider. The residents also played the dice game, where if they got a 7, 11 or doubles they got to get a present and once all the presents were picked they could steal a present from another resident. A good time was had by all and there was lots of laughter and holiday cheer going around the room. The St. John’s Children’s Choir came and put on a little Christmas program telling the story of Jesus’ birth and sang Christmas songs. The children did a really good job, and everyone enjoyed the program.
Thursday morning started our day off right by exercising with Live to be Healthy. In the afternoon another round of the Glenwood City preschoolers came and sang for the residents and made gingerbread houses. Everyone enjoyed having the little ones around and to see all the smiling faces and excitement for Christmas.
We wound down our week by having the activity department make popcorn for everyone here at Glenhaven. Later in the afternoon the Boyceville Band and Choir came to share their Holiday music with the residents. We certainly enjoyed all the wonderful Christmas programs from all the different age groups of kids here this week! Thank you to everyone for coming out and spreading Christmas cheer! On Saturday afternoon Blue Sky Musicians came to perform. Everyone thought they did a great job, thank you for coming!
