Two GC library board members and librarian resign

GLENWOOD CITY — Mayor John Larson informed members of the City Council Monday evening that two members of the Library Board and the Librarian have resigned.

Larson gave no reason for the resignations other than the Librarian, Marilyn Blumer’s last day was Tuesday, December 12. He also informed the board that two members of the board, Barb Standaert and Heidi Wagner, had also resigned.

Larson indicated to the council that he attended the library board meeting last week and he had hoped the other members of the Library Board would have presented a couple of names for board replacement, but he had not received any recommendations. So he asked council members if they could come up with any prospects.

The council sped through their short agenda in about twenty minutes, and took up a couple of more items before going into closed session.

They approved a payment of $271,680.52 to Springlake Contracting for work that has been done on the new well of the city water utility. They also approved operator’s license to Corrine M. Johnson and Andrew D. Simon and a cigarette license for the new Family Dollar Store of Wisconsin, LLC in a building that is under construction along First Street.

They also approved the following as election inspectors for the coming next two years: Barb Dillow and Jill Logghe as Chief Inspectors; Karen Marlette, Linda Krizan, Karen Peterson, Tricia Kremer, Julie Stansbury, Kay Cassellius, Bill Wold and Barb Standaert.
