Glenhaven Happenings – 12-6-2017

Glenhaven News – Nov. 26-Dec. 2

We hope everyone had a successful hunting season. A lot of deer hunting stories are being shared  throughout the building.

You can tell Christmas is coming soon. It’s a busy time for everyone!

Our week started out with Grace Baptist Church on Sunday.

[emember_protected] On Monday the baking club was busy making a frozen pumpkin dessert for the monthly birthday party. The residents and guests seemed to really enjoy it on Tuesday when Jane and Friends came to entertain. We celebrated the November birthdays of Rosella Maes, Lorraine Palewicz, Gladys Rud and Betty Anderson. The ladies also sang Christmas songs that day. That got us into the spirit! They will be back on Dec. 19th with more Christmas tunes.

We had a new minister here on Tuesday morning. Her name is Pastor Shannon Mattison, and she comes to us from the Boyceville Methodist Church. We welcome her to Glenhaven, and are glad to have her as one of the several clergy who are good enough to volunteer here on a monthly basis. The residents and staff really appreciate your willingness to serve.

Bingo on Wednesday was hosted by St. John’s. Thanks to Nancy, Sylvia, and Bobbie for volunteering your time. You did a great job.

Thursday was a very busy day. The residents started the day off with Live to be Healthy, and the auxiliary ladies came and helped the staff decorate the upper level at Glenhaven. Staff decorated the lower level, as well as Grand Oaks and Havenwood, in preparation for the CareTree Lighting on Sunday. Now it truly looks like Christmas around here!

Christmas cookie decorating was the big job on Friday morning. Several residents gathered in the lobby area, where we proceeded to frost and sprinkle 200+ cookies. They did a fantastic job, and were able to enjoy them at the Care Tree Lighting. In the afternoon we celebrated Jack Timm’s birthday with cake and ice cream. Happy Birthday, Jack!

Jim Ehlers was here to entertain on Saturday afternoon.

In this season of joy, we had some sad news. Dave Prissel’s dad passed away on Saturday. We extend our sympathies to Dave and his family. God Bless.
