Glenhaven-Havenwood Happenings – 11-15-2017

Glenhaven Campus News

Nov. 5-11

This weather certainly makes you want to stay inside!

The residents had a great start to their week, as they got to play Bingo an extra day this week! The families from Immanuel Lutheran Church from Emerald hosted Bingo on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for coming.

The baking club made apple pies on Monday and played a game of dominoes while they baked. This time they actually get to eat the pies.

The activities department came in early on Tuesday and made waffles for the residents, which is always a treat. Pastor Brad was unable to make it for church that day, so we played Bible trivia instead. We wish him a quick recovery.

The Student Council paid their monthly visit on Tuesday afternoon. They played lots of different games with the residents, and brought some decorations which they had made for Thanksgiving and Veteran’s Day. Their visits are always enjoyed by the residents. Thanks, Kids.

Resident Council was held on Wednesday morning. Erleen does a great job of running these meetings, and the residents have a chance to voice their concerns. This month they also got the job of picking what they wanted for Thanksgiving Dinner. Just a reminder to family members who wish to eat Thanksgiving Dinner with a resident, reservations need to be in by Nov. 20th, and there is a maximum of 5 guests per resident. The cost is $10.

Holy Cross was our host for Bingo on Wednesday afternoon. Thanks to Geraldine, MaryAnn, and Dorothy for your help and prizes.

Live to be Healthy exercises were on Tuesday and Thursday. We always get a nice group of people for that. On Thursday afternoon, the residents spent some time talking about Veteran’s Day and did some Veteran’s Day Trivia.

Friday morning we had a nice group for Catholic Mass with Father John.  There will be a group coming in the afternoon to honor our vets by visiting each one of them, as well as the wives of our vets, and expressing their thanks. We at Glenhaven would also like to express our thanks to all who have served our country, and have family members who have done so.  Happy Veteran’s Day to Don Austin, Robert Peterson, Evin Golson, Ray Hanson, Ed Stack, Claude Williams and Gilbert Mounce.

Vistors this week: Lloyd Holten was visited by Pam, Vicky and Mark; Mary and Ernie Kiekhoefer were visited by Peggy Raymond; Claude Williams was visited by Claudia Williams; Mary Larsen was visited by Jerry Schutz; Virginia Engebretson was visited by Alice Tuttle; Teresa Miller was visited by Bob and Tom Miller;  and Doris Herdahl was visited by Ruth Neumann.
