Boyceville High School Senior Morgan Kuhn selected as Menomonie Optimist Club Youth of the Month
The Menomonie Optimist Club provides the Boyceville High School teaching staff with the opportunity to recognize the achievements and efforts of an outstanding senior student. The selected student is then recognized as the Youth of the Month.
Morgan Kuhn was selected to represent Boyceville High School as Youth of the Month for April. Morgan is the daughter of Heather and Troy Kuhn of Knapp.
The program statement from the Menomonie Optimist Club describes the qualities and attributes that made Morgan a great choice.
“The purpose of the Optimist Club is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life: to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community, and the world.”
To recognize her accomplishments there was an Awards Banquet held in Menomonie on April 19th. Morgan’s parents, Heather and Troy Kuhn, and Boyceville High School Teacher Mrs. Laura Debee attended the Awards Banquet. Mrs. Debee had the opportunity to introduce Morgan and talk about her achievements, both in school and our community. Morgan has been a valuable leader, supportive team member and a positive role model for her peers. Mrs. Debee is the FCCLA Advisor (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) and has counted on Morgan’s leadership for the past three years. Morgan has placed at the State level for FCCLA for “Illustrated Talk” and qualified once for Nationals as part of her FCCLA competitions. According to Morgan one of her favorite FCCLA experiences was organizing a Book Drive for the Pine Ridge South Dakota Reservation. She had been a part of a Missions trip to South Dakota and thought a great way to give back would be to organize a Book Drive for the children they met. Through FCCLA they collected over 600 books which will be delivered to South Dakota this summer. Morgan has been very active in athletics at Boyceville High School playing Basketball, Volleyball and Softball. She has been the Captain for all three sports! She earned 2nd Team All Conference Honors for Volleyball and Honorable Mention in Basketball. In addition to her leadership and athletics Morgan has supported her school by setting a tremendous academic example in the classroom. She has earned the academic recognition as a National Honor Society member and will graduate this May with Academic Honors from Boyceville High School. Her academic focus, service to her community and commitment to leadership has made Morgan a wonderful choice for the Optimist Award.
