DOWNING — When Downing treasurer Sharon Bundy decided to step away from the office, the Village of Downing knew it would need someone to fill her shoes.
[emember_protected] The problem was, the April 2017 election did not have any candidates for treasurer listed on the official ballot. But, that did not mean Downing residents did not have a choice for who they put in the position.
Of the 12 people who wrote in names for the open office, nine of them chose Mary Anne Dharsi as the best possible person for the job. She garnered 75 percent of the write-ins with nine votes, while Bundy accounted for two votes, and challenger Kendra Sanderson picked up a single voice of support.
The race was the only contested one on the ballot for the Village of Downing. [/emember_protected]
