Do all who hear the word of God receive it, that is, believe it? No. Many who hear the truth of the Bible reject it. Some are encumbered with pride of self and cannot bring themselves to believe the truth.
Some do not see the need of the gospel because they do not see themselves as sinners in need of a Savior. Some fear the change Christ may bring into their lives. Others are just indifferent about who Jesus Christ really is and so find it easy to say no to His offer of salvation. Whatever the reasons may be, many reject Christ’s offer of salvation given in the Bible. Indeed, Jesus said, “Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because straight is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it” (Matt. 7:13-14). Jesus also said, “…Behold a sower went forth to sow; And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the wayside, and the fowls came and devoured them up” (Matt. 13:3-4). The enemy, Satan, will do all he can to prevent the word of God from being sown and received into peoples hearts. Many do not believe, but thank God for those who do believe, for they enter into the fullness of eternal life!
