Fire damages Glenwood home

TOWN OF GLENWOOD — A home in the Town of Glenwood received extensive damage following a fire that broke out Saturday evening, October 1.

The home owned by Tony and Trudy Lewis at 1768 320th Street in Glenwood Township had heavy smoke and fire damage.

The fire was discovered by the Lewis’ 19-year-old daughter Emily when she returned home that evening. She heard a noise, which was the smoke alarms ringing and found the home full of smoke upon entering. Emily Lewis tried to get the family’s dogs out of the house but had to turn back after just a few feet due to the smoke. She was treated and released by Glenwood City Ambulance for smoke inhalation after complaining of dizziness and a hoarse and sore throat.

Tony and Trudy Lewis, who were elsewhere on the property when the fire was discovered and reported to 9-1-1, along with a relative and friend  were able to get the dogs out of the home before firemen arrived at the scene.

Glenwood City firemen found the home full of smoke, but were able to enter and extinguish the fire. The fire department was at the scene for about three hours and was assisted by firefighters from Boyceville and Menomonie.
