Can falsehood ever be a place of safety and protection? No, though in our human reasoning we may think it to be so. Our minds and hearts can so easily deceive us.
In the book of Isaiah we read about those who thought judgment could never come to them. Indeed, they said, “…for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves” (Isa. 28:15). They didn’t believe God and so proceeded according to their own reasoning, thinking they had the situation under control. But the thinking of man is never a security against the judgment of God. Judgment came in spite of their best efforts of concealing the truth. Likewise, men today can never prosper by seeking to hide under falsehood and lies. God knows everything about all of us. As the Psalmist said, “Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off” (Psa. 139:2).Nothing can ever be hidden from Him. We would be wise to heed the word of God, “…be sure your sin will find you out” (Numb. 32:23). The place of security is to be honest with God and man. Remember, God, “… desires truth in the inward parts” (Psa. 51:6). No, falsehood is never a place of safety and protection.
