FALL CREEK — Hilltoppers Jacob Nadeau and Taylor Drinkman were the first Glenwood City runners across the finish line in the boys’ and girls’ races at the Knudtson Cross Country Invitational in the Fall Creek September 10.
The Lady Toppers finished fourth out of 14 schools while the boys took seventh.
The Glenwood City girls tallied 141 points. The Colfax girls’ team, with all five of its runners finishing in the top 25, pulled out the team victory with 65 points. The Vikings were followed by Tomahawk with 78 and Elk Mound with 85 points.
Durand won the boys’ competition with a score of 34. Tomahawk again placed second with 46 points followed by Bloomer at 83, colfax with 143 and Eau Claire Immanuel had 182 to round out the top five team scores. Spring Valley was sixth with a 187 followed by the Topper boys 191 points.
Taylor Drinkman was the first Hilltopper girl across the finish line. She came in sixth overall with a time of 22:15.8.
Emily Bethell crossed the line 19 seconds after Drinkman to finish in eighth place overall. Bethell was followed by Makayla O’Brien, who finished in 23:39.9.
Rounding out the Glenwood City girls were Tia Carlson and Nyah Anderson. They finished in 58th and 71st respectively.
Flambeau’s Rachel Lawson won the girls’ race with a time of 20:47.8.
Mathew Bauman was the second boys runner to complete the race for Glenwood City, finishing in 19:55.6. He was followed approximately 90 seconds later by Aaron Holmquist in 48th place.
Corey Klatt was not far behind Holmquist, crossing the line at 21:25.3. He was only 29 seconds in front of Lane O’Meara, who finished the race in 58th place overall.
Elijah Simmons and Kyle Myers completed the Hilltopper boys’ team and came in 63rd and 73rd overall.
Wesley Brantner of Durand was the first runner overall, completing the race in 17:42.8. The Durand boys won the meet.
The Hilltoppers were in Rice Lake yesterday for the UW-Barron County Invite and go to Mondovi next Tuesday, September 20.
